Westercove™ Consumer Health Data Notice
Offered by Carter Leadership Solutions, LLC. Contact: info@westercove.com.
What this is
Some state laws, including Washington’s My Health My Data Act and similar laws in Nevada and Connecticut, protect information about a person’s physical or mental health, even when HIPAA does not apply. What you write in Westercove about grief, sleep, mood, or wellbeing may count as consumer health data under those laws. This notice collects the relevant parts of our Privacy Policy in one place.
What health information we collect
Only what you choose to write or record: journal entries, conversations with the companion, memories, voice notes, check-ins, and the summaries and safety-check results created from them. We never receive health information from a provider, insurer, or employer.
Why we collect it
Only to run Westercove for you: to keep your journal, to let the companion respond, to prepare your summaries and exports, and to check for safety concerns. We do not use it for advertising, to build a marketing profile, or to train AI.
Who receives it
We never sell it. It goes only to: our service providers under contract (Amazon Web Services for hosting and Anthropic for AI responses and safety checks), who may use it only to provide their service to us; your healthcare provider, only if you choose to share your journal; and others only where the law requires it, such as a valid court order. No person at Westercove reads it.
Your consent, and taking it back
We collect and use this information only with your consent, which you give by ticking its own box before entering Westercove. It is separate from agreeing to our Terms. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account in Settings or by emailing us. Withdrawal erases your writing as described in our Privacy Policy.
Your rights
You can see, download, and delete your information yourself in Settings. You may also email info@westercove.com to confirm what we hold, get a list of the third parties we share it with, or ask us to correct or delete it. We will verify and answer your request within the time your state’s law requires, and you may appeal any refusal.
How long we keep it
While your account is open. When you delete it, it is removed as described in our Privacy Policy, except for anything the law requires us to keep.
